Our historic tours will pair perfectly with The Help’s 15th anniversary and first ever movie-set excursion (some of these properties are also on the National Register) — fans can tour filming locations of properties where Hilly and Skeeter resided or the church where Abilean and Millie attended, peek at recreated interiors, and wander neighborhoods that echo the film’s 1960s setting while guides share juicy behind-the-scenes tales and thoughtful takes on how the movie connects to real historic themes like civil rights. Mixing National Register stops with cinematic sites makes for a fuller, more entertaining visit: you are for sure to get the solid history and preservation context, plus a pop-culture perspective that shows how movies help shape the way we remember the past. It’s going to be a fun day you don’t want to miss!

Tours begin Saturday, October 10th from 9a.m.-6p.m. then live music starting at 6p.m.-11p.m. A shuttle bus will be provided and tickets can be purchased in the below link or from Details located at 119 Howard Street or Sprout (the Avent & Clark Bookstore in the movie) at 309 Howard Street.
