Executive Director, Main Street Greenwood

As the Executive Director of Main Street Greenwood, Melisa, leads the charge in revitalizing and preserving the heart of Greenwood, Mississippi’s historic downtown district. With a deep passion for community development, Melisa has been instrumental in fostering economic growth, enhancing cultural heritage, and creating vibrant public spaces that serve both residents and visitors alike.

Since stepping into the role, Melisa has focused on implementing the proven strategies of the Main Street Approach, emphasizing organization, design, promotion, and economic vitality to ensure long-term success for Greenwood’s downtown. Under her leadership, Main Street Greenwood will continue to launch initiatives that celebrate local history while attracting new businesses and investments to the area.

Prior to this role, Melisa owned Fincher’s Inc., a gift and clothing business that has been a staple in Greenwood for over eighty years and a Main Street business for sixty of those eighty years. Fincher moved the business from the Park Avenue location of twenty years to 301 Howard Street and operated it in the Main Street District twenty three years and it still remains in this location today under new ownership.

With a vision for growth and sustainability, Melisa is dedicated to preserving Greenwood’s rich cultural legacy while shaping a dynamic future for its residents and stakeholders.
